A fantastic food forum called The Taste of Mid-Missouri, or TOMM, now in its 32nd year. (When you have an annual event reaching the 32 year mark, you know you’ve got something “eventful.”)
An early spring occasion since 1985, TOMM is presented by the Missouri Restaurant Association—bringing area restaurants, cafés and beverage vendors together to the University of Missouri Reynolds Alumni Center for an “evening expo” of good food, drink, entertainment and talk.
The Missouri Restaurant Association, to which most Columbia and Mid-Missouri restaurants and cafés belong, administers to the needs of more than 1,300 members statewide, over 200 of which belong to the Mid-Missouri Chapter.
The work these people do helps improve the political and social environment of the industry, which in turn benefits patrons, employees, communities and those just coming into the ‘real world’ of hospitality management.
All proceeds from ticket sales, coupon specials and gift certificate raffles go to create scholarships later awarded to worthy students in the University’s famed Hospitality Management Program. In recent years over $170,000 in scholarships have been awarded to promising hospitality majors.
