Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association assists local culinary program

The Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association (GKCRA), in conjunction with the Kansas City Kitchen Cabinet, presented the DeLaSalle Education Center with new culinary equipment to support its ProStart® program on February 7. The equipment, valued at $2,200, was made possible through a grant from the GKCRA to support the next generation of culinary leaders.

GKCRA offers specially-priced ServSafe Manager classes on October 20.

The 2nd annual Scott Knopfel Memorial Dine-Out will celebrate a legacy of service and provide scholarships to Greater St. Louis Area students. Participating St. Louis Area restaurants will donate a portion of their proceeds from that day towards the scholarship fund.

Additional DOL overtime seminars announced

Effective December 1, 2016, salaried employees earning less than $47,476 annually, or $913 per week, must receive time-and-a-half overtime pay when working more than 40 hours in a workweek. Employers must have a plan in place well in advance of the effective date.
