By December 2015, all restaurant chains with 20 or more units will be required to post calorie counts for standard menu items on menus and menu boards, as well as offer more detailed nutrition information on request in restaurants. The rules are expected to affect about 1,600 chains that include nearly 300,000 restaurant locations.

For its "What’s Hot in 2015" Culinary Forecast, released Wednesday, the NRA surveyed nearly 1,300 chefs, all members of the American Culinary Federation. They were given a list of 231 items and asked to rate them as a “hot trend,” “yesterday’s news” or a “perennial favorite.”

Congress poised to pass one-year extension of expired tax provisions »

The U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed on December 3rd a bill that would extend, retroactively for one year (generally through December 31, 2014), a number of tax relief provisions that had expired at the end of calendar year 2013. The Tax Increase Prevention Act of 2014 (H.R. 5771) or TIPA, which passed the House with a vote of 378 - 46, would prevent tax increases on millions of families and businesses during the 2014 filing season that begins January 2015.
